Supporting farms
We help families rebuild their farms.
Northern Iraq, central Nigeria, and southern Egypt are regions where many people depend on farming for their livelihood. In recent decades, these areas have been the targets of numerous attacks by terrorist groups. It is difficult to count how many families have lost their farms, and with them their only source of income. Farms were often deliberately targeted by terrorists seeking to deprive their victims of the means to sustain themselves.
Rebuilding destroyed farms and livestock holdings is one of the key factors enabling people to consider a return to normal life. It is as important as reopening shops or workshops, since farming is often just as vital a source of livelihood.

We buy livestock.
When ISIS terrorists took over northern parts of Iraq, thousands of people were forced to flee. They saved their lives, but they were unable to save their property. Within a blink of an eye, they lost everything they had worked for their entire lives. When they arrived at camps for internally displaced people, they had nothing apart from what they were able to carry with them. We therefore bought sheep, goats, and chickens for families that had run farms before the ISIS takeover. Additionally we also built small paddocks and supplied fodder. This way we helped over 270 families. Thanks to this support they were able to return to doing what they did best. They started producing popular in the region cheeses and yogurt. They had fresh milk and eggs.
Many people emphasized the positive psychological aspect of such help as well. Regular taking care of livestock introduced routine into their lives, a crucial thing allowing to withstand the most challenging moments. It was particularly important for the families living in camps for internally displaced.

We support farming in various forms.
We support many other farming-related aspects as well. We build greenhouses and purchase machinery, equipment, and tools used in agriculture. We provide irrigation systems, seedlings, seeds, and fertilizers. On several occasions, we have also built apiaries for families engaged in beekeeping. As always, we tailor our activities to the individual needs and experience of each family.
It is difficult to count how many families have received such assistance from us, but it is certainly more than 300. This means that thousands of people have been given a chance at a new life. Their future is once again in their own hands, and we are confident they will do well. It is also worth noting that, as with our other aid projects, everything needed to rebuild a farm is purchased locally.
